OUR COMMUNITY-BASED ART EXHIBITION. SMALL SCALE. BIG IMAGINATION

The Bainzy Art Gallery invites all artists in Nanaimo and neighbouring areas to submit to our first-ever Annual community-based art exhibition. Full details below:

•    THEME: IT'S THE LITTLE THINGS...

What counts as meaningful to you? What brings you joy? Perhaps it’s a memory, a moment, a person, a place, a memento or other nostalgic thing. Maybe it’s a specific feeling or an act of love. A favourite flower, animal or nature spot. 

Using the wood cradle canvas provided by the Bainzy, create something that shares the little thing(s) that matter to you, in the medium of your choice!

Any type of paint or medium (provided it’s dry at intake), pen/pencil, charcoal, plaster, collage, photography transfer, encaustic, resin, mixed media, metal, wood, found items, other… Be creative! 

HOW TO REGISTER / SUBMIT:

Visit the Bainzy Art Gallery to register in-person and pick up your artist submission package which includes the Bainzy-approved and pre-numbered wood cradle canvas that will be used for this exhibition. 

•    Submission Fee(s)  

Submission fees based on the size of canvas.  Choose between 4x4” and 6x6” (inch) wood cradle canvas sizes.

$10 per 4x4” entry.
$15 per 6x6” entry.  

* Up to three entries maximum allowed per artist. Mixed sizing is okay.
* Entry is subject to the limited quantity of canvases available; There are (50) 4x4” and (50) 6x6” available for this exhibition.

•    Sale of Works:

All works will be priced to sell at flat rates of $100 (4x4”) and $150 (6x6”) with a 50/50 commission split between artist and gallery. Payout for sold artwork(s) will be completed by email transfer and done no later than December 31, 2026. 

•    Deadline / Art Intake: November 22nd, 2026, by 7:00pm

Drop-off your finished artwork to the Bainzy art gallery no later than the date noted. Notes: Do not add hanging hardware or wire to the wood cradle. Be sure to photograph your artwork prior to submission (for your own records.)

•    Opening Reception: November 28th, 2026: 6:00pm – 9:00pm

Submitting artists are required to attend the Opening Reception and are encouraged to invite or bring along at least one guest. Please do not submit to this exhibition if you know you will not be able to attend the Opening Reception. 

•    Exhibition Period: November 27 – December 23rd, 2026

Artwork will remain on-display in the gallery (until sold) throughout the exhibition period. Any unsold artwork can be picked up between 5pm – 7pm on December 23nd or after December 27th during business hours. Note: The gallery will be CLOSED December 24th thru to 26th. 

•    Awards: CASH PRIZES! 
This exhibition will be Juried and a Bainzy Best-in-Show 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes will be awarded as follows during the Opening Reception:

1st Prize: $250       2nd Prize:  $100     3rd Prize:   $50
