Collection: ANGELLOS GLAROS

"I am fascinated by the transformation of raw materials—taking steel, wood, stone, or clay and revealing the form already waiting within."

Angellos Glaros

Artist Angellos Glaros in front of Stingray - Forged Carbon Steel Metal Sculpture | Bainzy Art Gallery

Angellos Glaros is a contemporary Canadian sculptor whose work explores the relationship between strength and grace, transforming raw materials into expressive works of art. Working primarily in forged carbon steel and reclaimed West Coast woods, Glaros creates sculptures that celebrate both the rugged character of natural materials and the precision of master craftsmanship.

With a foundation in Fine Arts studies in Ontario and Nova Scotia, and more than three decades spent as a woodcarver, furniture maker, blacksmith, and sculptor, Glaros brings an uncommon depth of technical expertise to his practice. Every piece is shaped through a highly hands-on process that combines traditional blacksmithing techniques, carving, fabrication, and fine finishing. Steel is heated, forged, welded, carved, and patinaed by hand, while carefully selected woods are sculpted to reveal their natural beauty and character.

Although best known for his striking metal and wood sculptures, Glaros is a multidisciplinary artist who has worked extensively with marble, glass, and clay. His ceramic works reveal the same mastery of form and movement that defines his larger sculptural practice. Whether working on an intimate gallery piece or a large-scale public installation, his work reflects a lifelong fascination with craftsmanship, material transformation, and the expressive possibilities of sculpture.

Since 2016, Glaros has created and exhibited public artworks throughout British Columbia, with permanent and leased installations in communities including Nanaimo, Oak Bay, Langford, Penticton, Castlegar, Nelson, and White Rock. His work has received recognition through awards in sculpture, wood carving, and furniture design, and has been featured in industry and arts publications.

Based in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Angellos Glaros continues to create sculptures that merge artistry, engineering, and traditional craftsmanship—producing works that feel simultaneously timeless, contemporary, and distinctly West Coast.

“Angellos is by far the best artist we ever worked with. Very professional, on time and on budget. We highly recommend his work to other clients. We are looking forward to many other projects with Angellos.”
