Collection: NERISSA LAYTON
"Where heritage, nature, intuition and imagination find new form."

Nerissa Layton is a contemporary Indigenous artist of the Nlaka’pamux Nation, now living and creating on Gabriola Island, British Columbia. Drawing upon a lifelong connection to the natural world, studies in science at the University of Victoria, and a successful career in fashion, Layton brings a uniquely layered perspective to her practice.
Her intuitive paintings move between abstraction and the familiar, weaving elements of nature, symbolism and imagination into richly constructed visual narratives. Through bold line, layered colour and unexpected forms, Layton creates worlds that feel rooted in heritage and distinctly contemporary—inviting curiosity, discovery and a closer look at what may be hiding within.
